Syd worked with a friend of Max's named Anna. When Syd was invited to a game night, the two bonded over being the only two idiots who didn't understand the stupid board game they were playing.

"I thought she was a stoner with pretty eyes" -Max

"He seemed shy and was all freckles and muscles. I was a goner!" -Sydney

For their first date, Max planned an entire evening that would sweep Sydney off her feet. They began by driving over an hour to Antelope Island in hopes of seeing Sydney's favorite animal- a bison. They drove around naming bison and inventing stories for them while singing along to Elton John. They eventually made it to the trail head where they began mountain biking. To this day, Syd maintains that she spent the first thirty minutes of that ride cursing Max's grave as they slowly made their way up the mountain. On the way down, she hid a crash from him and he was gracious enough to slow his pace enough to not embarrass her. By that time, it was dark and they stargazed while enjoying the cooler of assorted sodas Max had prepared. They finished by going to a resturant Sydney had loved as a kid but hadn't found in Utah yet. It was the single most thoughtful date Sydney had ever been on.
